Something I wanted to share today…

Lots of people ask me what is that I´m doing nowdays on my music. People is confused. I understand, after 20+ years of being envolved in the Jazz and Contemporary world its reasonable to think I got lost, or the other way, that wow I have evolved into something more deep and modern, also I hear many saying, its so great you are into commercial music, and doing other music styles. Well then, truth is none of the above. Reality for me is what I call a cleaning period. I´ve actually lived a strong period of musical decisions. Where I´ve decided to end performing certain music to start working on some others, even though that would mean starting up again, and having less work for a while. As you know, I am a composer probably before I´m a pianist. I would more certainly call myself a creator. There is probably nothing that makes me as happy as creating music, and being able to hear it and enjoy it, and rejoice in all that makes me feel. There is nothing better and more exciting than that. So a few years ago I started experimenting with sound, minimalism and space. Overtime I began to incorporate all that music that I loved, and most of all, digging into all that music that moved me. I have found intriguing, endless possibilities within electronic music, beats. I found a place where I could explore one of my favourite sounds, the piano! There´s where I came up with Animatic Theatre, later just Animatic. Animatic is the project that makes me think different. Its the place where I explore songs, sounds, colours and melodies with as simple as possible harmonies. Its the place where I play as simple as I can, where I leave virtuosity apart, knowledge apart, where flat ninths just do not fit, and where I feel enormous pleasure listening to simple melodies and childish creations. Its the place where I´ve understood the concept of sound as an art. Where I know I can connect to people and share love and positive energy through my music. There is no ego, no theory, no improvisation, no complexity, but as curious as it may sound, its where I´ve spent the most working on, ever.
